"now government wants to dictate to landlords when and how they can increase the rent etc "

So they should.

When renters were in short supply, landlords were dropping prices

to get their properties rented out.

Currently there is no HONEST, nor logical reason

for increasing the price of rent.

Sounds like Govmnt is trying to make life affordable

for Mr and Mrs average Joe.

If the l/lords aren't happy, get out of the renting game,

and don't take advantage of the shortage of rentals.
