as you know - the steel plants in Vic are mainly to service the auto industry (old ARC business excepted) - so I don't hold much hope for those (its circa 350 Kt p.a - rolling and coating )...
NSW govt has said they will assist in "training" .......this doesn't help the industry (ie additional demand!)
there is a huge difference in the quality of aussie steels and those imported (some of the Jap stuff is v good, )....sadly - most would rather the "lowest cost" rather than decent quality..
