re: relenza and the fda So why do you guys ramp BTA day after day with insignificant deaths in the third world? Having a higher BTA price is not going to solve the bird flu problem. BTA has got the drug already and has had it for many years. Are you being really caring buying BTA, since it doesn't need any more development, GSK is making the drug it only receives royalties now.

The virus has been around longer then the 1918 pandemic (which coincided with the end of WW1 with a highly immunocompromised population), but its only in the last 2 years that the media has started a daily update often with not fully verified bird flu cases in remote highly populated agricultural parts of the third world. This seems to be correlated with right wing governments in the USA playing on people's fears. Small pox vaccines, SARS, now its bird flu. Do you think that virus just turned up 2 years ago?

There is yet to be a single case of bird flu in the industrial world, and there is no clear evidence of clear human to human transmission.

So what annoys me is you guys giving hourly updates on poor people in the third world dieing of flu like diseases and getting excited since this might make BTA move up then you can cash in. If a bird flu epidemic and then pandemic starts BTA will not save you, the really only solution is not to have contact with other people. Since there is no real effective treatment currently.

If you really want to do something constructive why don't you buy CSL or other proper companies which are developing something NEW against these diseases. Otherwise you might as well buy metal storm and get excited every time someone gets killed with the weapon since that'll mean some more bullets can be made and you'll cash in? Its exactly the same...
