Of course the police withdrew the charges. What was the point in continuing, after the magistrate has stated that he would have reasonable doubt because of cultural differences?

A complete waste of time having the case before such a person. At least he had the integrity (or perhaps stupidity) to indicate where his sympathies lay.

Does this mean the police can bring him before another magistrate who has the moral integrity to judge the alleged attempted kidnapper under Australian law?
