@Scott th Ratbag; I note today that following Marles's attempts to ingratiate himself to Trump's mouthpiece at the conference of warmongers in Singapore reporters have sought clarification from Albanese about the extent to which waste of taxpayer's money on 'defence' will now accelerate.
Albanese did NOT endorse the commitments made by Marles. Rather, he repeated comments made during the Election Campaign.
IMO that signals: 1. Marles has betrayed Labor's defence policy and sought to gain extra spending from the current Budget - he's Labor's Peter Dutton! 2. Marles has exposed Albanese to media pressure and to the USA ahead of his meeting with Trump at the upcoming G7 Meeting. 3. Marles has again exploited his position as DPM just as he did in sacking Ed Husic and Mark Dreyfus.
