What you say would make sense had Woolworths made an unprompted, stand-alone announcement. All I can find in the media are references to the fact that they "confirm" the decision.
In other words, media have got wind of the decision and asked Woolowrths for clarification. They have then carefully reported the response as if it were an announcement, making it sound political.
Just the usual click-bait divisive rubbish from the usual suspects.
