The 'fake specials' refers to the practice (alleged, as it has yet to attract any court/tribunal penalties) of bumping up the price of product X for a very short time and later claiming '(it) was $2.00 19/10/23'.
Surely if Mr Banducci had commonsense and ethics, on the Australia Day issue, he should have emerged and stated 'well we've made a mistake this year - I guarantee that on Australia Day 2025 there'll be quite a few specific items stocked so we can all celebrate'.
That old 'Get Smart' TV show (hilarious, and extremely well produced) had the famous 'Cone of Silence' - is there one installed along Woolworths Way, NSW?
I do not perceive the WOW Chairmna, Directors and CEO plus senior extremely well remunerated management understand how much damage they've done to the WOW brand (including Big W) from overt support for the "YES' vote and now the Australia Day fiasco.
When Roy Morgan Research eventually publishes its list of Australia's most trusted companies, there's a good chance Woolworths will have lost its #1 ranking. QAN plummeted this year to #44.
