I'm not going to cover everything as this is only intended as a clarification to the answer I gave Doves, as the question was formed with respect and lack of attitude. Men have spent lifetimes researching only one aspect of sacred geometry. And certain parts I won't be discussing at all. So if I gloss over certain areas it's only time constraint and you'd be better to research yourself.
Rene Descartes had a fair bit to say about the pineal gland, most of it wrong. What is known of the pineal gland is it secretes one single hormone - melatonin. The secretion of melatonin is dictated by light. The use of melatonin is for two specific purposes. To help control circadian rhythm & to regulate certain reproductive hormones. The circadian rhythm is our 24 hour biological cycle defined by sleep, wake patterns. Your circadian rhythm is dictated by daylight & darkness. Light exposure will cease the release of melatonin thus controlling your circadian rhythm.
Dimethyitryptamine (DMT) is also released by the pineal gland, it is released during spiritual and mystical experiences, and during the time of death. As previously mentioned numerous times you do not need to walk that path. You should always remain with the light. No one who tastes of the banquet of the demons comes off unscathed.
