We need a car manufacturing industry and government must not abandon it.
We will be making a rod for our own backs if all manufacturing in Australia is allowed to die. We cant compete in many industries but when its in our strategic interest to have a particular manufacturing capacity such as car manufacturing and also having an Australian owned airline.
Other countries are supporting their manufacturing capacity but Australia wants to play the ideology non equal playing field game. We will be reduced to a third world capacity if key industries are staffed at third world rates or allowed to collapse with a subsequent jump in unemployment. I am beginning to worry about the future of ordinary Australians the way things are going.
