It simply suits him to blame the Hamas incursion on Israel and a supposed 75 years of Israeli harassment. I wouldn’t expect him to have a clue about any detail, about the Arab war, about Palestinian and Arab refusal to accept any two state solution (and that was over and over again). I would not expect him to understand the existence of the Ottoman Empire, the Byzantine empire, the Roman Empire or any of the other various dominant rulers of the area. Mongols, Persians - whatever. It’s such a geographically pivotal area that it simply invites conflict

put simply Palestine is merely a construct as an independent state. It has no history as such. The current views on Palestine reflect simply a modern view of both history and morality

The influence of the Byzantine Empire seems to have been written out in favour of a Muslim narrative over time. There's even rewrites of history stealing Greek and Roman mathematics abd build as the work of Islamist scribes and innovators (presposterous given the prohibition of the religion to think outside the 'strictures').

One good thing about the fall of Constantinople is it forced Europe to look further afield leading to foundation of Australia
