Cougar Energy Ltd has reported the death of its non-executive director Michael Dalling.
Cougar said it was saddened to advise that Mr Dalling, a member of the Order of Australia, had passed away suddenly on Wednesday.
"Michael was a willing and passionate contributor to our business and his widely-recognised background of excellence in the research, start-up and development of new technologies was much valued by Cougar Energy," Cougar said in a statement on Thursday.

Cougar Energy Ltd has reported the death of its non-executive director Michael Dalling.
Cougar said it was saddened to advise that Mr Dalling, a member of the Order of Australia, had passed away suddenly on Wednesday.
"Michael was a willing and passionate contributor to our business and his widely-recognised background of excellence in the research, start-up and development of new technologies was much valued by Cougar Energy," Cougar said in a statement on Thursday.
"Our sincere condolences are extended to his family and friends."
The past few weeks have been trying for the underground coal gasification (UCG) hopeful, with its shares last Friday sinking to a three-year low of 3.1 cents after the resignation of Rodney Watson, its chief financial officer and also its company secretary.
The day prior, Cougar emerging from a six-week trading suspension due to a water contamination scare at its trial UCG project near Kingaroy in Queensland.
Subsequent test results cleared the firm of contaminating groundwater.
The company late last month posted a full year net loss of $4.1 million, up from a $2.9 million net loss in the 2008/09 financial year, and revealed it might not be able to continue as a going concern.
Shares in Cougar were up 0.1 cents, or 2.7 per cent, at 3.8 cents at 1318 AEST.
