The Yanks did play a major part .
They are still playing a mojor role in safeguarding Israel.

One thing is coming out of this war is that if the US had been fighting a diferent army (better equipped and trained ) they would be exporting body bags to the US in the thousands.
A well equipped mobile infantry force with surface to surface and surface to air missiles would reek havoc.
