The Premier's first meeting with directors of the underwriter Sino Securities was at this office in September 1993. They came to announce the listing of Guangdong Corporation, the first Chinese company on the Australian Exchange. The meeting was arranged by Sino's Chairman, Bruce Mathieson. Also present was Managing Director, Richard Li. This was the first of two official meetings hosted by the Premier.
The Premier took the step of holding an official reception for the Directors of Sino Securities and Guangdong Corporation. The group was photographed on the steps of Parliament House.
The value of the Kennett's' investment had risen $18,000 after a single days trading. As it turned out that paper profit was never realised, as the price had fallen by the time Mrs Kennett sold.
