If I buy shares several times over a period of months in the same company and the buy prices are all different, which shares are sold when I sell a portion of the total shares I own in that company?
Eg. I buy at 10000 @ 7c, 9500 @ 9c, 9000 @ 11c, 8000 @ 15c
Then I sell 5000 @ 20c
Is or can the sale be made from a specific packet of shares that I purchased?
Eg. Does the sale of the 5000 @ 20c come from the 15c lot that I bought or from the 7c packet I bought or from any of the others?
These figures are all used as an example for the question.
I know I should talk to my accountant but I'm interested in other peoples take on the situation till then.
