Not sure if it's elephant country - Chimo is slap in the middle, and CHN's exploration has shown confirmation of the trend, and plenty of artisanal/prospector work with no published results.
I do take your point about NSR, although CHN will want to get something up front in either cash or shares, or a mix.
Another scenario would be repayment of exploration expenses up front, plus shares plus NSR. Not many companies would go for a straight up NSR given that any possible mine would be years away. Between now and then Agnico could go broke and lose the lease, in which case the NSR would lapse (worst case). No, it's likely to be a mix.
CHN is in a stronger negotiating position than Alexandria - plenty of money in the bank, no urgency. Alexandria seems to have been through some sort of legal hell in recent years to judge by the comments on CEO. Many shareholders seem happy to take the money and run.
