Yes the prices for coking coal have been grossly down for some time, although recently a price slightly higher than expected was stuck by one miner.

However, the prices are for tonnage of mined coking coal; the LNC proposed sale is for in situ coal and it is not yet known exactly what price in situ coal is worth in bulk. Even if there can be an approx. tonnage price accurately estimated, that of coure does not mean that LNC will confirm the sale let alone do so for around that average price.

An american analyst report on expected prices is available on the LNC website (oe from its US broker), if you want more info. I seem to recall (and you can no doubt check) that it would equate to a sale price of in the just under 1 bil range based on JORC reserves.
