Are there any obligations to shareholders or to the Australian government or it's people with respect to the sale of such significant assets? Are there any ramifications if the assets are sold off and if it is later determined that a sale was not necessary or even in the best interests of shareholders and/or the nation? I am not an expert in how these deals work but it seems that there is an opportunity to access a lot of quick cash by selling or effectively "rebirthing" the company. Can anyone comment on whether there are any boundaries, limitations or obligations for the administrator with respect to this deal? Are current shareholder rights simply wiped as part of the sale process? Are there any independent checks of whether the company will be sold for fair value or whether it will be flogged off below cost?
