A few points to keep in mind
- Not sure where the US$5K comes from but I think that is highly unlikely
- FDA clearance is the 1st step, 2nd is reimbursement. In order to get paid for the use of ReCell there has to be a reimbursement code. I've not heard anything from the company regarding reimbursement in the US (in the UK and FR I believe reimbursement is still under consideration - FDA result should certainly help). The economics data AVH has presented is going to be the deciding factor regarding both i) if/when reimbursement is/will be available and ii) the $ amount.
- Government agencies (via AFIRM and BARDA) will purchase kits but will almost certainly be at a steep discount to the proposed list price.
So, I'm extremely positive but there are still a few hurdles to achieve before the revenues jump
