why do you ask such a stupid question? - you know probably even better than I do that if you have nominees accounts you can move shares back-and-forth back-and-forth back-and-forth back-and-forth back-and-forth and do some awful lot of washing , with the intent to suppress the share price to accumulate a few shares from absolute idiots
if these nominees accounts are in other jurisdictions, for example Hong Kong, then you cannot even go after them for violating ASIC rules
or you could do the same thing and suppress the share price because you are tabling a take over offer and you only want to pay three cents - nuff said
or you can still wash even more because you just hate management and you want to make them feel awful because you’re holding a grudge
so here are 3 reasons why this could be held back; and I bet you there are more if you become creative
