Whole issue started when China want to stop exporting the rare earth as they want to keep it for themselves. I read an article that in 5 years time they will be in short supply of rare earth. Prices may fluctuate but still there is scope for more production as demand for rare earth is growing. Present production is around 130000 tonnes (still short supply) Demand in 2015 is projected 190000 tonnes. Even Lynas, Arafura, Alkane and Molycorp production will not be sufficient as they are projecting +300000 tonnes of demand by 2020.
