If competitors bid $1.6 billion, being $300 million higher, and were expecting a 5% margin or an operating profit of $80 million , then should we expect Salini/NRW to be stuck with a loss of $220 million? That's the difference between $1.52 billion and $1.3 billion. I hope not! I hope the West Australian screwed up the article. I can't imagine the consortia's bids differing by that much on a low margin project. And I also hope NRW isn't deviating from its standard practice of charging customers based on its labor and equipment costs. If Salini and NRW offered a turnkey price and underbid competitors by $300 million, that's cause for concern. I don't think that's what happened by the way.
