Some of the unions have long been stand over merchants rorting taxpayers and businesses. Hawke stood up, but since then most Labor leaders owe their jobs to Unions backing them. The system is entirely bonkers with obvious conflicts of interest. To start with, they should ban unions from making donations. Its a real conflict on major taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects. Its a closed loop for Labor to do dirty deals and it needs to end. This is one occasion when the media have done their job. They have stopped running protection rackets via a silent voice. This govt wasted $500m on a voice to distract people from cost of living problems. They cant invent new distractions now. Albo better act or he will be gone via the voter.
