The Australian Chamber of moror manufacturers are comming out with the same old arguements
against the importation of cars by individuals as they did in 2012 when the MVSA was changed
to virtually prohibit the import of Japanese used cars; namely warranty and safety.

    The big issues here are:
    (a) why do we not recognise Japanese safety standards?
    (b) why can Australian workers not access cheap used Japanese cars, 4x4s & light commercials
in line with the spirit of the Japanese-Australian Free Trade Agreement.

It seems , so far, that the japanese Free Trade deal only benefits multinationals , big business
and their Aussie agents while working class Aussie wages and jobs are put under pressure.
Cheap used Japanese vehicles would at least be some compensation for the downside of the Japan-Aus FTA.

For a FTA to be fair it has to be reflexive and banning the import of used Japanese vehicles feom
Japan is simply not fair but benefits multinational auto manufacturers by handing them a monomoly
    on vehicle imports.

The SEVS/RAWS scheme was a failure as intended in 2002.
