footy, I too,will take a stab. Gay marriage is not really about children- just like (straight) marriage is not a law about children, but about 2 adults- currently male and female, but a government would change the definition so it is 2 adults- not necessarily male and female.

Whether gay people then have kids or not, is not really the question. A lot of kids get raise by one parent, or two adults, both of which might not necessarily be the biological parent to the child. If today, all kids were all raised by two biological parents, male and female, gay parenting might be a radical shift, but we know it is not the case,and has not been for a longtime. Kids need to be raised with love. No reason why gays would love their kids any less, nor any more, one suspect.

But note the above is about gay parenting- not gay marriage. Gay marriage is just about having the same rights as straights. Nothing more, but nothing less.
