Just get rid of the Marriage Act and get the politics out of it.

Even the Howard government changed other Acts to ensure property rights etc were the some between hetrosexual and homosexual couples. The Act is irrelevant in terms of governing the country.


To me marriage is the union of a woman of man to the exclusion of all others for life. Whether they change the Act it will not change my view. I accept others have other views, so let it mean to them what they want. To me marriage is both an active and spitual committment and I don't need a government to tell me I am married.
