I would also give Abbas a go. Interesting to see if he is a reformed terrorist, or is using a new external garb but with the same shi*tty underclothes.
As I posted earlier, if he is serious and Dahlan means business, there are several scenarios that I forsee.
1. They will act cohesively and not only contain terror but make sure that terrorist are apprehended and that the "revolving door" policy comes to an immediate end.
2. Arafat will be either pulling the strings in the background as the old codger just can or won't let go. If there is no backlash from Abbas or Dahlan, then it's clear that nothing has changed.
3. Assuming Abbas and Dahlan are serious, the result will be some sort civil war or a clash between the gangs.
I hope it's version 3. At least the Israelis will know they have serious negotiating partners who can "deliver".
And the more they "permanently clean up" during their little stoush....the better for everybody.
