Your right alkaline and carbonatite intrusions are closely related and evolved from similar alkaline parental magmatic bodies so both can contain fenites ( alkaline ligands).
They’ve already drilled into fresh material and had a look so perhaps at this 1st stage it appears more alkaline in character but if this is a big system, then there’s lots to explore.
My big guess at this stage is that the large ‘feature’ could be part of the Wogala suite and the ‘eye’ is a further partition into an alkaline intrusion of sorts. It’s why I’d say AR might be coming across as pretty excited.
