4DS has developed new technology and the company's value is directly linked to the value of that protected intellectual property. Over-sharing provides opportunities for competition to try and come up with their own products which would devalue the company value...
a mining company digs resources out of the ground. Once you have a mining licence, there is no competition for that resource - you just tell the market what you have found and that sets the value.
a terrible comparison.
