SYDNEY (XFN-ASIA) - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said that its 'A' rating on the Suncorp Metway Ltd group has been placed on Creditwatch with positive implications following the banking and insurance group's 7.8 bln aud bid for general insurer Promina Ltd.
"If the proposed acquisition is successful, there is a potential the ratings on the Suncorp entities may improve," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Craig Bennett.
Bennett said higher ratings on the Suncorp entities will likely reflect an improvement in the enlarged group's business profile while maintaining key financial metrics, including both capital adequacy and funding.
