Very interesting address given by Olof Faxander CEO of Sandvik one of the worlds biggest engineering firms at the opening of a massive facility in the Hunter Valley this afternoon.
Chinese demand is driving the resources boom but Australian companies should really consider operating in China itself he said.
China laggs behind many other countries mining industries in safety levels and technology including automation.
Therefore, great opportunities exist for mining equipment companies etc to export their expertise there.

In their 5 year plan there was a clear ambition to reduce the no of coal mines.
Mr Faxander said he expected to see a lot of joint ventures in China involving foreign companies in future years.
Their coal mines are in a terrible state he said and would not be accepted in most parts of the world.[ read need gas ]
He went on to say that China is way behind but this offers great opportunities for those willing to go there.
Appears to vindicate what SEH have done from day one also shines a bit of light on why Imdex have been so supportive.
Some great opportunities in China for them as well especially with a joint director.
Hope this allays the fears some have of doing business in China.Sanvik should have some idea.
One day a little gas company called SEH may be seen as a pioneer and a serious player in the Chinese gas industry.
If they haven't been the recipient of a takeover.
Hang in there boys and girls this story can only get better.
