It is a quandary. You can respect the position but you do not have to respect the person in the position.
I don't remember any angst from the group-think left when a shoe was thrown at Howard. And I do not recall anyone from the left seeking answers about the nasty Australia Day race riot which was instigated by a trusted media person in the PM's office. Consistency is not a strong point of groupies.
