    Hi Augustus, cheers it would be clearer indeed my googled apols!, "nicht sprecken zie deutsch", some more thoughts, as I sit back and contemplate servicing my Hydronic heating, the thought of paying the $40,000 AUD or so Euro equivalents for BlueGen in Australia, I thought why on earth etc. I can't make it stack up here.

    Therefore what governs sales in Europe particularly?
    Feed in Tariffs, yes very important, none here for Fuel Cells!.

    Watch this video from the EU:http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/video/player.cfm?sitelang=en&ref=I072677
    What struck me was the phrase: Reduction in Energy "Consumption compared to conventional Buildings of 85%"

    So the market in Europe for BlueGen & others comparitive subsidies:

    All good, but even better from up the page
    Requirements for promotion BAFA;
    'Existing buildings: the only installation in existing buildings (planning application before 1 January 2009) is supported, new homes, there is no subsidy.'

    Existing Buildings only subsidy, Why because they need too comply by 2020. It also reduces by 5% per year:
    " The rates are valid initially for 2012 and 2013. From 1 January 2014 reduced the subsidies annually by 5%."

    The majority of buildings in the EU need a BlueGen refurb then eh, I wondered why the focus was on refurbishment, the matter becomes clearer, whats cheaper a bluegen than a total refurb of already refurbished houses. They have to get 85% energy efficiencies over existing! Assume they already have compact Fluorescent's and reasonably efficient appliances and now you want to use 15% of your current consumption, speaks for itself IMHO.
    Punitive measures:
    The EU already issues directive to non-compliant countries regarding EU policy
    Internal energy market: national legislation in 8 Member States still not in line with EU rules

    Secondly Smart Meter Rollouts:
    "Preparations for the roll-out of smart metering systems

    Commission paves the way for massive roll-out of smart metering systems. When consumers can follow their energy consumption in real time they can better control their energy bills. Smart metering systems will make this possible. Today only 10% of EU households have some sort of smart meter installed. Where economically worthwhile, 80% of all electricity meters in the EU have to be replaced by smart meters by 2020. To facilitate the take-up of this new technology the European Commission has published today a Recommendation to prepare the roll-out of smart-metering systems. It provides step-by-step guidelines for Member States on how to conduct cost-benefit analysis by 3 September 2012. It also sets common minimum functionalities of smart metering systems and addresses data protection and security issues." http://ec.europa.eu/energy/gas_electricity/smartgrids/smartgrids_en.htm

    Implication: Smart Meters will for the first time allow Energy providers to monitor usage, I ponder how that will affect users, will they have punitive tariffs, because they can sure implement them over the grid.
