Ah, that word, sophisticated... somehow its meaning has assumed a very slight variation as to how it is perceived. Originally, and still, to sophisticate means to adulterate, to change the nature of something. So, a sophisticated person was one who dressed and behaved more glamouously than status would indicate.
A sophisticated investor, on the other hand, is merely a moneyed chap linked to a major stockbroking firm. They get the offers. They are not necessarily smart.
