A new article today in FiercePharma quotes Chris Viehbacher as saying he wants to double Sanofi's vaccine business over the next five years, taking it from 10-11% of group sales to 15-16%. Given the essential role of Sanofi Pastuer, (the world-wide vaccines leader), in this transformation, vaccines chief Wayne Pisano, joins the Executive Comittee. Viehbacher said this was also one of the reasons they recently bought an Indian company with several vaccines in the pipeline, including one for cholera.
Wonder if we'll see this reflected in the exclusive drug list under 'products in the pipeline'? Either way, it's just further validation, if we need it, of where we are going and the critical role Unilife is going to play in Sanofi's long term strategy for growth as a diversified global healthcare company.
Also looking forward to hearing about the SPP. One way or the other, (undersubscribed or oversubscribed), it will be an interesting indicator of how the market views the company's prospects.
