Mark Samter from MST Marque is quoted in the AFR regarding the Origin takeover saying “shows how short-term focused the equity market is about many stocks in the energy sector”, and suggested they would mostly end up private “if they don’t get valued properly”, including Santos.
EIG already has a history of targeting Santos.
I would not be surprised if the two are in discussions for a transaction /part selldown of assets.
Santos next takeover target?
