The Australian environment is an absolute nut case.
The government interference is extreme in the case of Santos. The treasurer can step in and block any foreign bids out of national interest grounds and at the same time reverse approval to a project which has reached 43% completion. Plus actively putting on red tape to deny investment to new Projects and with the additional threat of slapping an extra tax to further mess up the company. The sovereign risk of investing in Australian is worst than anywhere in the world.
Crying out for not supplying to the domestic market but will not relent on opening new projects making foreign investment decision very difficult and unattractive. The world will change and we will look back in a couple decades time and see the wasted opportunities and learn a very harsh lesson.
