Gurubob, it has to be shareholder acceptances because Saputo can't buy in the market above their bid, can they?
The logic of arithmetic says that if the other major shareholders sit pat, Saputo will have a job getting 50%.
So, as others have said, Bega hold the key. I still think it might suit Bega and Fonterra to sit, but Bega would then need a good argument to placate their own shareholders for not taking their profit.
If Saputo walk away, MG will still be stuffed because simple arithmetic means that the others can also prevent MG getting 50%, even if MG does get the nod from the ACT.
