Its stories like this and more that have kept me away from CFDs. With the market as it is I feel there is little choice left but to explore them for myself.
I signed up for fpmarkets because they are who Demoniaco and some of the ASX twitter crew use, on paper they seem less shady and are at least Australian and have some safe harbour type paperwork, but haven't traded with them yet - so far they seem very ragtag just like every other CFD platform and give me the creeps.
