The latest available ASIC short report, dated June 15, shows the total percentage of short positions on the top 20 stocks (which represent over 54 pct of the index), was 17.94 pct. The last tally I did was dated June 5, and the percentage on that day was 19.04 pct. So, the short positions on the top 20 stocks, decreased by 1.1 pct between June 5th and June 15th. In comparison, during the same time period, the XJO decreased (lost) 278.90 points, or 4.65 pct, as she went from a close on June 5th of 5998.70 to a close of 5719.80 on June 15th. The largest short positions in triple digits of the top 20 stocks, were: BHP - 4.30 pct, RIO - 2.14 pct, AMC - 1.14 pct, WPL - 1.18 pct, SUN - 1.56 pct and ANZ - 1.01 pct. ANZ was new to the triple digit list, as on the previous report dated June 5, the short position on ANZ was 0.97 pct.
