My heart goes out to Tonga and all the pacific Islands and coastal countries Japan , Peru etc that were effected buy the volcanic eruption and tidal surge tsunami
The tsumi serge on tides and how far the water rose, Atmospheric pressure bouncing of the ozone layer would have pressurised the mass of water to cause such a big move of so much water.
Gives you some idea of what will happen in the future with global warming, and with melting ice, not as fast as a this tsunami but a slow creeping effect of the ocean swallowing up land and ocean levels. What you have to understand with so many dams being built around the world, holding back fresh water, The levels of the ocean are really not true indicators at the moment with the inclusion of all the dams china has built and others hold unimaginable amounts of water, Having a direct impact on climate change and warming oceans.
if you add the mass of what Dams are holding back and how fast ice is melting it would be interesting to work out the true ocean level
and how mankind is being ignorant of how earth has worked for billions of years. Climate change is reversible!!!! with less pollution, But the main thing that needs to happen is for the rivers to run free and not be blocked and left to stagnant, with a smarter way of turning salt water into fresh water using desalination plants that run on ocean power., to do it so mother nature can keep the balance and climate remain liveable without so many extreme weather patterns.
The ocean is the best kinetic energy
source we have, along side, wind,
Also more efficient solar panels and battery storage.
