    The hydrogen and the hydrogen-oxygen detailed are essentially a replacement for an inert atmosphere (n2, ar)between the arc electrodes. the graphite electrodes are consumed to produce the CNT. Fine for small scale chemistry, but not an easy bulk synthesis like the one EDE use.
