If you've seen the Simpsons episode where Mr Burns owns his own casino, and starts to spray for bugs everywhere, and starts wearing tissue boxes on his feet, well that was all based on Howard Hughes. Hughes was seriously in bed with the CIA, the mafia, and also the teamsters union, there is also some speculation that he was involved loosely with the first Kennedy assasination, and also the death of Marilyn Monroe. Hughes ran this grubby tabloid for years that he used to get back at his enemies (real or imagined). It was also this rag that the CIA used to smear 'communists' in Hollywood. Hughes was nuttier than a fruit cake, but new how to turn a dollar.
