STEEL giant Tata has provided funding for a pilot project to convert buildings into solar power storage units.
The £3million project, which is also backed by European funding, was due to be launched by Finance Minister Jane Hutt today.
Buildings included in the pilot are residential, commercial, industrial and educational.
The finance minister said: "It is vital that we invest EU funds to help us meet the goals of the EU as well as our own ambitions - putting sustainable development at the heart of government. "Projects like the Sustainable Building Envelope Demonstration (SBED) support growth in the low carbon economy and encourage innovation, which, in turn, help create jobs and build a strong economy.
