SBM has a high cost in producing gold per ounce compared with the industry's average.
SBM has recently hedged it's future gold productions in one of it's assets.
The two facts above are the leasts factor when considering acquiring an asset/company. The latter maybe a good strategy in a volatile economic environment but not in the long term.
