    It uses LIDAR to track individuals around the store. It then pairs the individuals LIDAR position to the shelf being accessed. Final check is at checkout.....people wont pay for items they don't have and if you 'got away' with not paying for something then the store has your card details and knows who you are anyway.

    Other tech uses video to trackpeople - issue with video is it uses LOTS of computing power and has obvious confidentiality issues.
