Yes, I was shocked to hear that these major companies (m/c in the billions) intended to dump a new form a waste into a hole in the ground (with long-term environmental impacts unknown) Not sure the surrounding communities would be too happy about that....
Converting lithium waste into cement aggregate or zeolites will all come down to economics and from my take on ZEO is, the key to their technology is low-cost production of synthetic zeolites, so that would have to carry-over to their lithium cleantech solution.
No doubt lithium players will keen to have more than one option to solve , as AFR said "BIG HEADACHE"
