Yup. I think they are trying to get in the little shareholders good books to reclaim a little bit of the goodwill they have lost with their successive profit downgrades and hopefully that little bit in avoiding resolutions voted down again at the AGM.
I hope the interest is automatically submitted to the ATO so it can be prefilled into the tax return. Otherwise I agree with you the administrative overhead is not worth the few shekels of interest though it means more work for my kind.
