I view that comments as absolutely misleading by focusing on the claim that the scandium market is “non-existent” at present, which is both misleading and an oversimplification of the broader market dynamics.First, while the scandium market may not yet be massive, it is far from “non-existent.” Scandium is a critical mineral with a growing demand in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and energy, particularly in the development of lightweight alloys and fuel cells.

The market is still in its early growth phase, which is precisely why companies like Rimfire are positioning themselves now. Dismissing this early-stage market as “non-existent” ignores the potential for significant expansion, particularly as green energy and decarbonization initiatives take off globally. Claiming that nothing matters until the market reaches a certain size is a misrepresentation of how new markets develop and how strategic investments work.

Furthermore, the suggestion that flooding the market would be an issue implies a misunderstanding of how critical minerals markets work.

Unlike commodities with large, well-established supply chains, the scandium market is currently supply-constrained. There is a deliberate focus on developing resources methodically to meet growing demand over time, not to flood the market.

Rimfire and similar companies are working to establish steady supply capabilities so they can be first movers when the market takes off. The claim that one should be concerned about flooding the market is misplaced and ignores the strategic advantages of securing resources early in a growing sector.

Additionally, this argument fails to account for the fact that long-term planning in resource sectors is crucial. Companies don’t wait for a market to fully mature before they start exploring or developing resources—by that time, it’s too late to capture the early opportunities.

Rimfire and other scandium developers are making the right moves now, building up resources and advancing their projects to ensure they are ready to meet demand as it grows.

To argue that the market is currently too small is to miss the point entirely: the value lies in being prepared for when the demand accelerates
