Can someone explain to me exactly what scandium goes into and why it’s so critical compared to work hardened aluminium or titanium ?
the price of scandium is huge, so only a tiny amount of it adds greatly to the aluminium alloy cost. It’s not clear to me there is actually much demand for high strength but very high cost alloys.
