There are many excellent software packages, but most cost money.
However, there are also some good ones free.
Commsec has Professional Trader, which comes free providing you do 15 or more trades per quarter. It is live and will allow you to do most things you want to.
For live quotes, the free downloadable American-based Quotetracker is good. It keeps track of the minute-by-minute value of your portfolio too, and good charts as well. Can't execute trades though.
For portfolio management, Topshare is tops. a small fee/ But indespensible at tax time for capital gains/losses calculations.
